A few areas of law see the most claims against lawyers
More than 50 percent of the claims made against lawyers in the 1999 study were in the areas of Personal Injury-Plaintiff, Real Estate and Family Law.

Small firms are at great risk
Nearly 75 percent of claims made against lawyers in the 1999 study were against solo practitioners and firms with 2 – 5 attorneys.

When the economy is down, claims against lawyers are up
The economy in states and regions appears to affect the numbers of claims against lawyers in those areas. There seems to be an increase in both the number and nature of claims against lawyers in the years following a recession.
